The Obi-Wan Kenobi series premieres this month, and fans have been wondering for months if Star Wars Day would include another trailer to build up hype for the show. Lucasfilm delivered on the promise it never technically made, and very few are upset about that.

Star Wars dropped a brand-new Obi-Wan Kenobi trailer this morning — and it finally reveals some things we knew were coming, but still weren’t quite prepared for. You can watch the full trailer below.

Fans have always wondered what a post-ROTS confrontation between Obi-Wan and Owen Lars would look like. Well we’ve now seen a small piece of that — and it’s just as awkward and full of resentment as most of us expected.

“Leave us alone,” Owen warns.

“When the time comes, he must be trained,” Obi-Wan reminds him.

“Like you trained his father?” Owen responds. Ouch.

There’s a lot of tension in this trailer, but also yelling and, of course, fantastic music.

We don’t know much about Inquisitor Reva at this point. But this trailer seems to point to her as the main antagonist for the series, with the Grand Inquisitor, Vader, and likely other bounty hunters serving as more minor villains looming over Obi-Wan’s fate throughout the show. This might also be the first time we’ve heard Obi-Wan’s name said out loud in one of these trailers.

Finally, we see part of Darth Vader’s suit and hear that unmistakable breathing at full volume, which is just as terrifying as it’s ever been. “You can’t escape him” really ends up being true in the end, until Obi-Wan literally escapes Vader by becoming one with the Force. Such a power move.

Obi-Wan Kenobi stars Ewan McGregor with appearances by Hayden Christensen and Kumail Nanjiani and is directed by Deborah Chow, who previously directed an episode of The Mandalorian. The series is set to premiere May 27, 2022 exclusively on Disney+.
