Seeing Cad Bane in live-action as part of The Book of Boba Fett earlier this year shocked and delighted fans of the animated Star Wars shows. The character had only previously been seen in animated form, first in The Clone Wars and again in The Bad Batch. Some believe we’ll see him again very soon in Obi-Wan Kenobi — and it may be more than just wishful thinking.

The one real clue we have to his possible appearance in this series is Disney+’s recent watch recommendations leading up to the show’s premiere on May 27. The watch list includes several episodes from Star Wars: The Clone Wars that involve several bounty hunters, with one at the center of the conflict opposite James Arnold Taylor’s protagonist.

In this particular arc of The Clone Wars, Obi-Wan disguises himself as a bounty hunter in order to thwart a plot revolving around Cad Bane while undercover. We already know, thanks to the Kenobi trailer released on May 4, that bounty hunters will play a role in the show’s plot somehow. Presumably, they will aid the Inquisitorious in hunting down the “wandering” Jedi Master.

It’s possible much of the show will involve Kenobi confronting people from his past — maybe Reva, definitely Darth Vader. Cad Bane and the former member of the Jedi Order have a history, and coming to terms with his past may be the only way Kenobi can become the wise, enlightened Jedi we see in Rebels and A New Hope many in-universe years later.

Obi-Wan Kenobi stars Ewan McGregor with appearances by Hayden Christensen and Kumail Nanjiani and is directed by Deborah Chow, who previously directed an episode of The Mandalorian. The series is set to premiere May 27, 2022 exclusively on Disney+.
