We finally have our first look at the long-awaited return of Cal Kestis and BD-1!

Following weeks of speculation, the next chapter in the Star Wars Jedi series has been announced. On the Celebration Stage at Star Wars Celebration, Star Wars Jedi Survivor received its debut teaser and a confirmation of the title’s 2023 release date. You can see the teaser in full below!

Naturally, details are sparse, though there are some tidbits we can glean from the trailer itself. The Grand Inquisitor’s appearance, presumably as the title’s lead antagonist, makes a tremendous amount of sense given the first game’s events. Most intriguingly is Cal and BD-1 walking through an unknown location towards a mysterious character suspended in a bacta tank. Also, what’s going on with the Mantis at the start? Can someone check on Greez? Please?

Following the release of the trailer, an interview with game director Stig Asmussen on starwars.com effectively confirmed that the title would not make its way to previous generation consoles. The focus on how the current generation can handle ray tracing, lighting, and load times when asked about how the current generation will improve the Jedi experience moving forward, certainly gave that impression. At the time of writing, platforms for the title have not been announced.

Star Wars in the video game space continues to build at a terrifying pace. With information of the upcoming Knights of the Old Republic remake receiving an additional development studio hitting newsstands recently, as well as Obi-Wan Kenobi content being added into Fortnite, there’s so much to look forward to on consoles (and PCs) everywhere!

With that loose 2023 date locked in, we can only hope we’re treated to a few more morsels of BD-1 goodness in the near future!
