Warning: This article contains spoilers from Obi-Wan Kenobi episodes 1 and 2.
After the short recap of Obi-Wan’s life, we start with what may seem at the first seem like a random Order 66 scene.
In this scene, we can see Jedi Master Minas Velti training a group of younglings as the 501st legion storms the Jedi Temple with Anakin as he completes his fall becoming Darth Vader. This scene probably has more than meets the eye, especially the young actress Ayaamii Sledge.
Is Ayaamii Sledge the Third Sister in Obi-Wan Kenobi?
In the second episode of Obi-Wan Kenobi during the Third Sister’s confrontation with the Grand Inquisitor accuses her of coming from the gutter. This is an interesting claim, and you may have been forgiven for assuming that he was referring to a Jedi Heritage.
If that was the case, then the Grand Inquisitor would also be from the gutter as he was a Jedi Temple Guard (in fact he escorted Barriss Offee to Ahsoka’s trail). So a Jedi heritage in and of itself would not be “from the gutter,” but would a youngling who ran from the temple qualify as being from the gutter?
This leads us back to the opening scene of Obi-Wan Kenobi. In this scene we see the young actress Ayaamii Sledge portraying an unnamed youngling with a single line of dialogue after the death of Jedi Master Minas Velti, she instructs the rest of the younglings by saying “We run.” Ayaamii Sledge has a striking resemblance to a younger Moses Ingram, who plays the Third Sister.
While this is certainly still a theory, for now, it seems to have a good bit of merit behind it. There was little reason for the directors to show us another Order 66 scene after the recap, so I will wait patiently to see if this theory is confirmed or not. Hopefully, this neatly hidden jem will be a kyber crystal and not an icy illusion.
Episodes 1 and 2 of Obi-Wan Kenobi are now streaming exclusively on Disney+. The next episode will premiere Wednesday, June 1. Be sure to check out all of our coverage on the series, including episode recaps, reviews, and more.
