Earlier this year, Star Wars and Funko announced a brand-new line of licensed Funko Pop! figures unlike any that has come before it. These Amazon exclusive figures, releasing monthly in the back half of 2022, highlight a select handful of Star Wars characters that don’t always get the praise and recognition they deserve.
Earlier this month, the third figure in the six-installment Power of the Galaxy series was revealed. n addition to Padmé Amidala and Sabine Wren, the collection will also include yet another version of Jyn Erso from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
Jyn Erso, along with a team of rebel fighters determined to take down the Empire, were responsible for transmitting the Death Star plans to the Alliance before Imperial forces could destroy the facility where they were being kept in secret.
Funko has previously released multiple variations of Jyn Erso Pop! figures, which makes this upcoming version very different from the previous two figures. There is only one other Padmé Funko Pop! (f you don’t include the extremely rare Queen Amidala figure), and Sabine Wren has only had two previous releases.
However, the series is meant to highlight the powerful, notable women of Star Wars, and Jyn fits right in with the likes of Senator Amidala and Mandalorian warrior/Rebellion leader Sabine. Fans certainly wouldn’t mind several figures that haven’t been released in previous waves before — Mon Mothma, perhaps? Asajj Ventress? Beru? Shmi Skywalker? There are three more figures in this series to go, and far more women deserving of the spotlight.
More Power of the Galaxy Funko Pop! figures will be announced as they get closer to release, and both Padmé Amidala and the Sabine Wren Pop! figure are available for pre-order on Amazon now.
