Before we settle down to watch the third season of The Mandalorian with our favorite Mando and Grogu blankets and themed snacks, let’s backtrack a little. Let’s go back and recap what happened to Din Djarin and Grogu in the Disney Plus series The Book of Boba Fett.
The Book of Boba Fett tells the story of bounty hunter Boba Fett after he’s escape from the deadly sarlacc pit. Upon his escape he is taken by Tusken Raiders, where he quickly learns the culture and society of the often portrayed, deadly and violent Tatooine residents.
In between flashbacks, Boba Fett is dealing with his present situation, taking over Mos Espa. With Fennec Shand by his side, Boba Fett learns who he can trust and how difficult ruling with a new point of a view can become.
It should be no surprise that he will need all the help he can get, which means contacting Mandalorian Din Djarin. Din Djarin is in quite the predicament himself.
Where will Din Djarin and Grogu’s story continue after the events of The Book of Boba Fett?
He continues his bounty hunter work while trying to wield the dark saber he obtained at the end of The Mandalorian season 2. In the process, he reveals to The Armorer that he did remove his helmet.
Even though audiences know he had no choice. He is not deemed a Mandalorian anymore and in order to reclaim his title he must complete a mission on Mandalore.
The news doesn’t keep him down for long as he tries to visit Grogu, who is training to become a Jedi by Master Luke Skywalker. Even going as far as giving him a gift of protection.
However, Grogu must choose between his bond with Mando and becoming a Jedi. Not surprisingly Grogu chooses Din Djarin.
As Cad Bane enters the fray, almost killing Cobb Vanth, Din Djarin and Boba Fett realize their enemy is stronger than they seem. However, by the end of the season, Boba Fett rises victorious and ready to change Mos Espa for the better.
Din Djarin and Grogu are reunited and with a new starship to boot! We’re assuming Grogu won’t be leaving Din Djarin’s side anytime soon but how will his decision to end his Jedi training affect his future?
Will Din Djarin be able to reclaim his Mandalorian title? Will Boba Fett and Fennec Shand return?
The Mandalorian season 3 will air on Disney Plus March 1, 2023.
