Filming for Star Wars: Skeleton Crew has officially wrapped, which might mean it’s still on track to release on schedule.
According to a report from Deadline, the show’s stunt coordinator George Cottle first shared the news on Instagram in a video recently.
“That’s a Wrap on Skeleton Crew,” he said. “Once again I was lucky enough to be surrounded by some of the most amazing stunt performers I have ever worked with!! I fell so lucky to work with you all! Thank you for all your hard work and dedication! So so excited for this one!”
Originally announced at Star Wars Celebration Anaheim 2022 last May, Skeleton Crew is set to be just one of several new shows expected to air on Disney+ under the Star Wars umbrella this year. The Star Wars: Ahsoka series is also expected to make its debut on the platform, while shows like The Bad Batch, The Mandalorian, and Visions are all expected to return with new installments building off previous seasons or volumes.
From what we know so far, Skeleton Crew will take place around the same time as The Mandalorian — so, about five years after the events of Return of the Jedi. Directed by Jon Watts and executive produced by Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni, the series will follow a group of kids who find themselves lost and roaming the Star Wars galaxy.
Similar to other Star Wars shows featuring younger characters, the series is not “for kids.” You might call it an “all-ages” series.
An official release date and further info for the series has yet to be announced. But as soon as more details become available, we’ll keep you updated.
Star Wars: Skeleton Crew is expected to arrive on Disney+ sometime in 2023.
