Warning! Spoilers ahead for Star Wars: The Bad Batch season two, episode six, “Tribe.”

The second season of Star Wars: The Bad Batch is approaching the halfway mark. After an adventurous treasure hunt episode, this week seemed to take the Bad Batch closer to their true mission for the season. Let’s dive into “Tribe” and see what’s ahead for Clone Troop 99.

Return to Kashyyyk

“Tribe” kicks off when, in the midst of a trade, Omega (Michelle Ang) sees a young Wookiee being held captive and frees him, shifting the focus of the Bad Batch’s mission as they set out to return him to his home. However, the captive is no ordinary Wookiee, but Gungi, a lost youngling from the Jedi Temple who has survived Order 66.

The plot brings the clones face-to-face again with the fallout of Order 66 despite their direct lack of involvement in the betrayal. However, this season seems to show their overall complicity as they are forced to choose sides once and for all and no longer be isolationist.

Even after they return Gungi to Kashyyyk and fight off a horde of invading Trandoshans, it’s clear that the young Jedi has a lot of healing left to do. He has little to no memory left of his home world and will remain in danger much like Grogu and the other surviving younglings.

The final moments see Hunter reflect on this truth as it pertains to Omega in particular, worried as long as there is a war in the galaxy, she’ll never be safe. Whether this means the Bad Batch will continue to run from the Empire or face them head-on to protect their younger sister remains to be seen.
