Where Star Wars Jedi: Battle Scars fits in the Star Wars timeline
By Meg Dowell
Some of your favorite Star Wars video game characters are returning in a new novel from Random House Worlds next month: Star Wars Jedi: Battle Scars.
The upcoming novel by Sam Maggs features familiar characters and new as they take a stand against the Empire — a force they’ve been both fighting and trying to run from for years. Cal Kestis, Nightsister Merrin, and the rest of the crew are going to clash with some unfamiliar faces … and it’s going to be dangerous. And fun. Maybe.
With every new comic, TV show, movie, and book expanding the larger Star Wars universe, fans want to know where the new story fits into the timeline. How does it compare to the events of the other stories we know and love in terms of when and where things take place? What else is going on in the galaxy around this time?
Here’s what we know about Battle Scars.
The story takes place between the video game Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and the upcoming sequel game Jedi: Survivor. set to release this spring. Fallen Order takes place about five years after the events of Revenge of the Sith, and Survivor takes place five years after that (10 years after the rise of the Galactic Empire).
In line with the books, this means Battle Scars takes place between James Luceno’s Tarkin novel and Timothy Zahn’s first canon novel featuring Grand Admiral Thrawn, titled Star Wars: Thrawn.
Since the novel is set about 10 years after Revenge of the Sith, it also takes place in time close to the events of the Obi-Wan Kenobi Disney+ series.
Star Wars Jedi: Battle Scars by Sam Maggs goes on sale March 7 wherever you get your Star Wars books.
