This just in from Star Wars Celebration, the highly anticipated Ahsoka series finally has a release date of August 2023!
Here’s what we know so far.
Unveiled alongside the first teaser for the series, Ahsoka looks to be a sequel of sorts to the animated series Star Wars Rebels with several characters such as Sabine and Hera making their live-action debuts played by Natasha Liu Bordizzo and Mary Elizabeth Winstead. Ahsoka made her own live-action debut back during season two of The Mandalorian and returned again in an episode of The Book of Boba Fett. The series likely will follow Ahsoka and Sabine in their search for Ezra and Grand Admiral Thrawn after the events of Star Wars Rebels. And in the trailer, we did get a brief glance at the back of a certain blue-looking grand admiral’s head, though no information about who may be playing the character. Additionally, a brief image of Ezra was shown in the trailer by way of a hologram being viewed by Sabine. Hopefully, by the end of this series, the family will be reunited once again.
We know from the events of The Mandalorian that Ahsoka is looking for Thrawn but as to why we can only guess. Perhaps he knows how to find Ezra or where he might be. Or maybe as the trailer states he is “the heir to the empire” and his return could be a devastating blow to The New Republic. Mon Mothma herself even makes an appearance indicating that we might be learning a lot about The New Republic and not just watching Ahsoka and Sabine’s search.
The trailer also showcases a few red lightsaber-wielding characters but who any of them might be is still unknown. More details will likely be learned in the months leading up to the release of the show.
Ahsoka will premiere on Disney+ in August 2023, a specific date has yet to be announced.
