Three brand new Star Wars films were just announced over this past weekend at Star Wars Celebration out in London. There’s not one or two, but three separate films to come out over the next several years, though it is not likely that they will act as a trilogy (but more on that later on).

One of the movies will be directed by James Mangold who is huge in the Indiana Jones world/film franchise. One of the movies will be directed by Dave Filoni. One of the movies will be directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy. There is still so much to learn about these brand new upcoming films.

What will this brand new Dave Filoni Star Wars film be about? Check it out!

The second-to-be-released brand new Star Wars film will be directed by none other than Dave Filoni himself. You just may know him from some of his other workings, such as The Clone Wars as well as The Mandalorian. In fact, when you Google him, you can see his actual job title which sits as describing him as an “Executive Producer of Lucasfilm”. Lucasfilm is truly his home.

What will this new film be about?

In a recent interview with news branch called The Collider, here’s how Dave Filoni described his work on said brand new film:

"“…will involve the New Republic and take place during the events between where 1983’s RETURN OF THE JEDI leaves off and 2015’s THE FORCE AWAKENS begins.”"

Filoni’s Star Wars film in particular will additionally focus on and tie in each of the storylines in and seemingly with other Disney+ TV shows, such as The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett and even the upcoming series that has yet to be released or even have a release date just quite yet, Ahsoka. It is also known that this movie in particular will close out all of the “interconnected stories” between the three TV series as mentioned previously up above.

Are there any recurring characters coming back?

While we’re still not 100% sure on this, it’s pretty likely that we’ll see some of the franchise’s most popular and recognizable characters, such as Ahsoka Tano herself, The Mandalorian, and maybe even the likes of Baby Yoda as well (that’s who I’m rooting for to see the most out of this one). As soon as we know some of the characters or actors to be returning, we’ll be sure to update you!

How long will this film be?

Again, not too much is out and around about this film yet, but as we’ve stated before, through just a little bit of math, the average Star Wars film, out of the 9 Skywalker Saga episodes that is, the average films lies right around the 133 minutes mark, or 2 hours and 13 minutes.

Is there any sort of soft release date for the film just yet?

Once again, we’re not even sure what’s been discussed about this film besides possible titles, characters, plot, etc. So that being said, there’s no release date as of yet, but as soon as we know, so will you! Stay tuned for more upcoming news, press releases, and other announcements too!
