Tony Gilroy is letting everyone know in advance that Andor Season 2 will be full of cameos.

While the second season is still under production and will likely release sometime towards the end of next year, Tony Gilroy has provided many details on what fans can expect from the conclusion of the series, which leads directly into Rogue One. Andor Season 1 did have a few cameos here and there, but nothing too eye popping. Perhaps that’s about to change.

Gilroy sat down with Entertainment Weekly to talk about the upcoming season of the show. When asked about who might be making an appearance on the show next season, Gilroy gave an interesting answer and said that cameos are “inevitable.”

"The answer is yes. And there are some that are inevitable, there are some that are surprising, there are some that we probably can’t get for various reasons… But, you kinda know who’s in the stew there. You certainly know who’s gonna be on Yavin 4."

The “surprising” cameos certainly have our interest. As Andor leads directly into Rogue One, a movie which had its share of cameos as well which were required and fit the narrative, and the timeline, perhaps the same will apply to season 2 of Andor. Characters from Rogue One can easily appear in Andor Season 2, without it seeming forced. Gilroy also acknowledged that it’s almost unavoidable to include certain cameos, given the timeline.

"So yeah… And the calendar’s inevitable, in some ways, for the people in this convention, for the people who really know this five years, there’s some big events on the calendar that we have to pay attention to. And we will.”"

This is getting more and more interesting. As for who may appear, Orson Krennec and Galen Erso seem like big possibilities. K2SO, Cassian’s droid friend, is all set to return. Actress Felicity Jones, who played Jyn Erso, Cassian’s companion on the mission to retrieve the death star plans from Scarif, recently told BBC that she won’t be making a comeback, but after Gilroy’s interview, one wonders if she was merely trying to keep her cameo under wraps.

We won’t know for sure until the series returns to Disney+ with Season 2, sometime next year.
