The Grand Inquisitor has been a fan favorite for fans of Star Wars Rebels but the live action introduction of the character was less than well received by fans.

Rupert Friend, who stared as the Grand Inquisitor in the live action Obi-Wan Kenobi series has expressed interest  on returning as the character. From the reveal trailer, Rupert was one of the first voices you heard as he talked about the Jedi leaving a trail of empathy and how they can’t help it. Rupert performed his role well despite fans questioning why Jason Issacs, the voice in the animated show, was not reprising his live action character.

Inverse asked Friend if he would like to return and he stated:

"“I loved playing that,” Friend says. “It’s such a physical transformation and such a scary dude. It was a lot of fun, and I really like Ewan. And so to do something else with him would be great.”"

Friend was an excellent choice as he embodied the style of the Grand Inquisitor and actually did a great job. The character itself may have been written very well in that show with lots of plot holes, including him being stabbed in the gut and then coming back a few episodes later without any explanation.

All this being said, I would welcome the Grand Inquisitor back to the live action screen and Friend would be great to reprise his role. Ultimately, I’d like to see a Darth Vader focused show right after Revenge of the Sith that takes place around the time of the Darth Vader comic line and mixed in with Bounty Hunters. The Grand Inquisitor would fit right in on this story line. Give me Bossk, Darth Vader, the Grand Inquisitor, and mixed in with Boba Fett and Palpatine pulling the strings that’s a recipe for a fantastic show.

Obi-Wan Kenobi has had an outcry from fans for a second season and hopefully Disney will listen and give fans what they want. Rupert Friend would be a fantastic edition again to an already fun universe full of rich stories and characters.
