The next Star Wars book to arrive on store shelves, Star Wars The High Republic: The Eye of Darkness by George Mann, kicks of Phase III of the Lucasfilm Publishing initiative in a big way.

With Starlight Beacon gone and the Nihil sweeping through the galaxy under the sinister control of Marchion Ro, the Republic is in trouble. And the Jedi may be the only ones who can save it.

Here is everything you need to know about where The Eye of Darkness takes place in the larger Star Wars timeline.

The book takes place one year after the fall of Starlight Beacon almost to the day — part of the beginning of the book involves planning a one-year anniversary event to mourn the many lives lost from the devastating Nihil attack.

The book features fan-favorite characters such as Avar Kriss, Elzar Mann, Bell Zettifar (and Ember!), Burryaga, and many more. The galaxy is in a state of chaos, and the Jedi are going to do everything they can to hold it together.

If you’re looking for High Republic stories that take place between the end of Phase I and the beginning of Phase III, you can check out some of the short stories in The High Republic: Tales of Light and Life (though all of them are worth reading, for the record). Shadows of Starlight 1, a new Marvel Comics miniseries, also covers the year between the two phases (and will continue to in upcoming issues as of this writing).

The new The High Republic Marvel comic kicks off on November 8, and The Eye of Darkness releases the following week.

Star Wars The High Republic: The Eye of Darkness by George Mann releases on November 14, and is available for pre-order now.
