Ke Huy Quan wants to be in Star Wars and he should join Skeleton Crew
One of the recent joys in Hollywood is the renaissance of Ke Huy Quan. His story is inspiring, and ever since his return to acting in Everything Everywhere All at Once, fans have been delighted by his success, from an Academy Award win to one of the internet favorites in Loki. Now, he has set his sights on the next big franchise on his bucket list:
Star Wars.
In a recent interview with Collider, Ke Huy Quan told the story of when he was reconnecting with his Indiana Jones family, he decided to take a chance with the big boss herself. He said:
"“I love the MCU. You know, I was able to connect with my Indiana Jones family during the award season. And, as you know, Kathleen Kennedy was the producer. And she’s the head of Lucasfilm now. I did go up to her, and I said, ‘Kathy, I would love to join the Star Wars family.’ That’s another wish list of mine. But honestly, I’ve been very lucky. I’ve been very lucky.I was shameless when I saw Kathy! I went up to give her a big hug. And I said, ‘Kathy, Kathy, please put me in the Star Wars universe!’ And what’s so great about it, if you think about it, it’s all under the Disney family, you know? So, I was lucky to be Short Round, which is also Disney. And, now MCU, and, you know, I want to stay in the family. It’s great.”"
You know what’s also great? The thought of Ke Huy Quan in a Star Wars. He would make a fantastic Jedi Master. Though, if I had to dream cast him in something, it would be Skeleton Crew. Granted, that’s if Skeleton Crew has more than one season.
I picked this series because it would be like coming home for Ke Huy Quan and Kathleen Kennedy. She is one of the founders of Amblin Entertainment, which created or produced movies like The Goonies; Ke Huy Quan was one of the stars of The Goonies. In fact, it was his second film after Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, which Kennedy was a producer for. Skeleton Crew has been heavily promoted to be created in the same vein as Amblin movies like The Goonies, having a similar storyline to that style of films. If Quan showed up in Skeleton Crew, it would feel full circle to where he started his acting career.
Regardless, Ke Huy Quan in Star Wars would be excellent. Give this man all the roles, Kathleen. I would love to see him in a galaxy far, far away.
