Unwrapping the Star Wars LEGO Advent Calendar: Day 14
By Eric Clayton
Day 14 of the 2023 Star Wars LEGO Advent Calendar sees the reemergence of one of the heroes of the Rebellion: Princess Leia Organa! She busts out of that cardboard door in her Endor fatigues, blaster in one hand and a holiday cookie in the other.
I’ve said all along that I’m excited to get into the builds that commemorate this year’s 40th anniversary of Star Wars: Episode VI—Return of the Jedi. Princess Leia—as portrayed by the late, great Carrie Fisher—ready to blow up some Imperial infrastructure on the forest moon is probably one of the most iconic images from the film.
If you’re a Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes mobile game fan, then you know that the team over there is commemorating this year’s anniversary film in a very similar way with a new Galactic Legend character: Leia Organa, garbed in Endor green.
What’s there to say about Princess Leia? We’ve seen minifigures depicting her various roles throughout the saga for years, from the Rebel princess pacing the base on Yavin IV to the Resistance general ready to overthrow the First Order.
True to Star Wars LEGO Advent Calendar form, this minifigure comes with the slightest twist: a pair of holiday cookies. Did she bake them on Endor using local ingredients? Are they for the Bye Bye, Death Star after party? Are they poisoned and tempting for any overly curious Stormtroopers? Who can say!
Right now, the only way to get your hands on a similar minifigure is the #75353 “Endor Speeder Chase Diorama”—and it’s a helmeted and decidedly cookie-less Leia, so slightly different—so it’s nice to have this special piece included in this year’s calendar. This minifigure has two expressions to choose from: smug and sassy.
Both are appropriate for destroying the Empire.
I have a feeling we’ll see some threats to our Rebel hero coming out of that calendar in the coming days…
