There are virtually unlimited stories to be told in the galaxy far, far away. Fans were pleasantly surprised to learn that in 2022, we would be treated to an anthology of previously unknown stories about the lives of Ahsoka Tano and Count Dooku in Tales of the Jedi, an animated series in the style of The Clone Wars.

Following this, we received the sequel to this series. Instead of Tales of the Jedi Season 2, viewers were given the spectacular Tales of the Empire, which revealed the journeys of wayward Jedi Barriss Offee and Imperial Magistrate Morgan Elsbeth. With a pattern now established for following seasons being the tales of… something, there is a huge range of possible future tales to be told in a galaxy with limitless possibilities.

Let's speculate where the Star Wars: Tales Of series could go next

Tales of the Old Republic

The original Tales of the Jedi was, in fact, an Expanded Universe (now referred to as Star Wars Legends) comic series from the 90s featuring the wars of Jedi and Sith in the time roughly 5000 years prior to the rise of the Empire. This would then set the stage for the immensely popular RPG Knights of the Old Republic. Certain elements of the era have been re-canonized, and there is plenty of room for fresh ideas to be inserted into this time. Having an anthology series would be a great way to introduce the period to a new generation of Star Wars fans.

Tales of the Sith

With Tales of the Empire taking a darker tone, we know that this format is more than suitable for stories with more mature themes. The potential for Sith related stories could take place across virtually any point in the timeline up until the defeat of the Empire. Here would be an opportunity to learn about the tutelage of Darth Sidious under his mysterious master, Darth Plagueis, or the adventures of a young Darth Maul or even some unknown Sith Lord scheming against the Jedi.

Tales of the Bounty Hunter

Truly a bottomless well for one-off fast-paced, action-packed stories. There are just about as many bounty hunters in the galaxy as there are stars in the universe. Obviously, we’ve got our classic Boba Fett and Bossk, but how about a tale about Fennec Shand or Aurra Sing or her murderer, Tobias Beckett? Truly, anything goes in the galaxy's most dangerous profession.

Tales of the First Order

There is a notable lack of animated material from the sequel trilogy era. With a decent gallery of villainous characters with less than fleshed out backstories, there is a lot of ground to be covered here. This would also give the First Order an opportunity to shine and make a name for itself beyond just being an off-shoot of the new defunct Galactic Empire which it stemmed from. A story that would be fascinating to watch unfold would be to witness the transformation of the last Imperial Remnants in the First Order we come to know in the sequel trilogy.

Tales of the High Republic

With the cancellation of The Acolyte and The High Republic initiative reaching its planned ending this year, many unanswered questions exist about this new era in galactic history. The books and comics around this time also have a colossal cast of characters, many of whom deserve to be told their own stories. If Lucasfilm is serious about keeping the spark of their latest multimedia project alive, dedicating a few episodes to fleshing out this corner of the universe would make sure the High Republic stands out as more than just a footnote in galactic history.

Lucasfilm currently has nothing official to say about any future season of a ‘Tales’ show. However, as we’ve demonstrated, there are just so very many places this could go. With a galaxy's worth of stories to tell, we can only hope some of them will come to light one day.
