Andor Season 2 gets April release date in time for Star Wars Celebration Japan
With D23 taking place today in Sao Paulo, Brazil, fans are anxious to hear about upcoming Star Wars projects, not the least of which is Andor Season 2. The official release date is April 22, 2025.
It seems Disney has already updated their Disney+ app for users in the US, which reveals Andor Season 2's release date. A fan spotted the date while browsing the app and shared the screenshot online, and the comments section has fans questioning why they can't see the date themselves. This might be because Lucasfilm has yet to announce it officially, but it seems likely that the announcement may come later today at Lucasfilm's segment during D23.
Although Andor Season 2 wrapped up filming a few months ago, the show has been delayed for various reasons, including the SAG-AFTRA strikes. The second season reportedly has a whopping 250 million dollar budget, so Lucasfilm is right to proceed with caution when selecting a release window. Skeleton Crew premieres next month and will run for approximately 8 weeks, wrapping up sometime in January. However, the Star Wars Celebration takes place from April 18-20, 2025, which is the perfect opportunity to showcase the series before its official premiere.
Several of Diego Luna's Rogue One: A Star Wars Story cast members are set to reprise their roles in Season 2, so Andor is a big deal. Disney showcased footage of the series at recent events, including Star Wars Celebration 2023 and the most recent D23 Fan Expo in August. However, an official trailer hasn't been posted online yet. Disney's focus will now shift to promoting Skeleton Crew. With Andor being 6 months away, it's unlikely that any footage shared at the event today will be posted online for fans. This is great news for anyone who'll be in attendance at D23 this afternoon. However, the rest of us will have to wait a few more months.
Andor Season 2 premieres next year on Disney+.
