The sequel trilogy's baddie was given a higher role on the cartoon series.

One of the things I noticed while watching Star Wars Resistance with my daughter is how many characters from the sequel trilogy appear throughout the series. BB-8, Poe Dameron, General Hux and Princess Leia all pop up throughout the show.

One character that appears is the villain Captain Phasma. Her role on the series greatly expands not the character itself but her arc in the franchise. In fact, she has more screentime in Resistance than in both The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi. She has five appearances, four in Season 1 and once during the second season. Gwendoline Christie, who portrayed the character in the sequel trilogy films, reprised her role for the show.

During the run on the series, she proves how vital she was to the First Order and that she stood as an important leader of the stormtroopers. In "The Triple Dark, she arrives at the end of the episode, where it was revealed the pirates and the First Order were working together to take over the fueling platform, the Colossus. Then, in "The Children From Tehar," Phasma succeeded in gaining control. She also attempts to protect the First Order by finding the children onboard the platform who witnessed Kylo Ren and the First Order's crimes. It's an effort to hide the First Order's true intentions.

Her biggest role came in the season one episode, "Station Theta Black." In the episode, Kazuda "Kaz" Xiono and Poe discover that the First Order is engaging in secret mining operations in a nearby system. Phasma and the stormtroopers attempt to kill both so they can continue to hide their actions from the galaxy, but the heroes get away.

Phasma's final appearance is the Season 2 episode of "Into the Unknown." It was an important episode that was tied to the events of The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi.

Throughout her run on the show, she was shown to be a proven leader and also skilled at negotiation tactics and combat. It adds more to her character for fans of the sequel trilogy. Viewers of the show can see why she holds so much weight and respect with the First Order in The Force Awakens.

Several characters throughout the franchise have been enhanced due to roles on many of the shows. Captain Phasma and her role on Star Wars Resistance is a strong example of that.
