Hayden Christensen will be back as Anakin Skywalker in Ahsoka Season 2.
The Chosen One confirmed the rumors during the Ahsoka panel on Day 2 of Star Wars Celebration Japan. This is great news for prequel fans, but it raises questions about Anakin's role in Season 2. The previous season focused on Ahsoka recovering from her old wounds and shedding the guilt she carried on her shoulders after discovering her Master's tragic fate.

At the end of Season 2, Ahsoka had started to make peace with Anakin the Master, and Anakin the fallen Jedi Knight. Could this open the door for reconciliation? Whether Anakin will return through more flashbacks, as a Force ghost, or as a figment of Ahsoka's imagination remains unclear. She and Sabine Wren are stranded in another galaxy, and the deserted planet of Peridea seems boring on the surface, but it hides its share of secrets.
Maybe Anakin's role will be to protect Ahsoka from a distance as she navigates this confusing and challenging time in her life. He always wanted to protect and save those he loved, and now that Ahsoka seems ready to embrace him, he may have the opportunity.
Rosario Dawson seems the most excited about Hayden's return, and this could mean she knows something regarding the nature of his role in Season 2. Christensen was tight-lipped but shared his memories of discussing Clone Wars-era Anakin with George Lucas during the making of the prequels. Nowadays, Hayden and Dave Filoni often bond over their mutual respect for the maker.

Filoni also shared when he decided he wanted to bring Hayden back. He says it happened after meeting Hayden for the first time at the Star Wars Celebration in Orlando, after witnessing how much fans love him with his own eyes. "Finally, I found a way. I had to invent entire dimensions," Filoni said, referring to the World Between Worlds.
But will it take the World Between Worlds to bring Hayden back in Season 2, or will Anakin find a way to speak to Ahsoka whenever he likes? Maybe Anakin was there all along, similar to how Qui-Gon Jinn was there for Obi-Wan, but it took his Padawan a few years of turmoil before he realized this. Afterwards, Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan communicated with each other regularly, and Qui-Gon passed on the knowledge of how to retain your consciousness after becoming one with the Force to Kenobi.
Is it now Anakin's turn to pass along the same knowledge to Ahsoka, and does this mean Anakin has finally attained the rank of Master? We'll have to wait and see.
Ahsoka is streaming on Disney+.
