Fans of the Star Wars universe can possibly look forward to a lot more Anakin Skywalker, as actor Hayden Christensen has expressed his desire to reprise the iconic role. In a recent interview at FanExpo Boston, Christensen, who has portrayed Anakin in the prequel trilogy, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and the live-action Ahsoka series, said, “One hundred percent… I would love to, yes.” His enthusiasm for returning to the role is a clear indication that he isn’t ready for his journey as Anakin to be over.

Christensen's portrayal of Anakin has been one of the most discussed and debated aspects of the Star Wars saga. Anakin's transformation into Darth Vader made a lasting impact on fans – for better or for worse. Despite mixed reviews of the prequels initially, Christensen's performance as Anakin was always a point of intrigue, and, as time passed, fans who grew up during the prequel era became nostalgic for his performance.

After the prequels wrapped with Revenge of the Sith in 2005, Christensen took a step back from the Star Wars franchise, but his return in Obi-Wan Kenobi (2022) and Ahsoka (2023) reignited interest in his portrayal of Anakin. His role as a mentor and occasional antagonist to Ahsoka Tano in Ahsoka introduced a new layer to his character, revisiting his legacy as Anakin/Darth Vader. These appearances sparked renewed interest in the character and his future within the Star Wars universe.

Christensen’s statement, “One hundred percent… I would love to, yes,” speaks volumes. This is particularly exciting for fans of the Clone Wars and Revenge of the Sith who have longed to see more of Anakin's journey beyond the films. Given the popularity of the Ahsoka series, it’s clear that there is still a hunger for Anakin’s story to be further explored, especially in a post-Vader context.

As the Ahsoka series has shown, his portrayal of Anakin still resonates, especially in emotional flashbacks and confrontations. Anakin's journey from Jedi hero to Sith Lord has always been a central part of the Star Wars saga, and Christensen's return deepens that storyline, particularly through the perspective of Ahsoka, his former apprentice. The dynamic between these two characters, once master and apprentice, now adversaries, opens up the potential for more emotional exploration in upcoming projects. Whether it’s through flashbacks, Force visions, or the World Between Worlds, fans are eager to see what Christensen will bring to the table next.

Christensen will return alongside Rosario Dawson’s Ahsoka Tano in Ahsoka season 2. The show is currently filming.
