Ming-Na Wen's storied career as an actor has led to honors, including a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. She was named a Disney Legend in 2019 for her contributions to Disney, including her performance as Mulan and Fennec Shand, a role she hopes to reprise in The Book of Boba Fett Season 2.
In a new interview with Collider, Wen detailed her journey in Hollywood, and while her achievements can easily fill up more than a page, she says she's always dealt with impostor syndrome. She recalls having a breakdown while planning a party to celebrate her Walk of Fame induction. Wen says, "But it made me so nervous. And there's also a little bit of that impostor syndrome that happens where you're just like, 'Really? Do I deserve it?' So many things went through my head."
While her career is full of exceptional roles, she holds Fennec Shand dear and calls it an “out-of-body experience." Ming-Na was fully involved in the creation of Fennec Shand, including her iconic hairstyle, but she still can't wrap her head around Fennec Shand toy dolls. She reveals, "When the first doll came out for Fennec, I freaked out, like, 'Oh, my character is on a Star Wars box!' It just blew my mind."
Ming-Na was last seen as Fennec Shand on the animated Star Wars series, The Bad Batch, and after the conclusion of The Book of Boba Fett, she's been eager to reprise her role in live-action. Fennec appeared on The Mandalorian Season 1 and Season 2. She joined Temuera Morrison as Boba Fett's partner on The Book of Boba Fett. While Ming-Na's performance was well-received, the show earned mixed reviews and wasn't renewed for a second season.

That hasn't discouraged her from remaining hopeful about a second season. For Wen, portraying a Star Wars character was a big deal. She described her "wonderful, in-depth" conversation with creators Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni. Wen was so impressed by the duo that she recalls telling her agent, “I don't care if they write me as a duck. I'm going to do anything they want. I just want to work with them. I love them so much!”
Ultimately, whether Boba Fett gets a second season isn't in Ming-Na or her co-star Temuera Morrison's hands, but she says she wants another season so she can hang out with Morrison again. She describes him as "one of the most genuine, down-to-earth extroverts," and adds, "Temuera brings the party with him wherever he goes. He brings the music, he brings the New Zealand tribal dances, and all of that energy. I just adore him."
For Ming-Na, another season of The Book of Boba Fett would be worth it if she gets to hang out with Temuera Morrison again. She recently confirmed that she's not in The Mandalorian and Grogu, although her answer sounds a bit cryptic. If Fennec isn't a part of the Mando movie, that makes it unlikely we'll see Boba Fett again.
Don't expect Ming-Na to reveal anything about her Star Wars future, as all actors are contractually bound to remain tight-lipped. Even if she's not in the movie, we hope to see Ming-Na Wen as the badass assassin Fennec Shand again in some capacity.
The Book of Boba Fett is streaming on Disney+, and The Mandalorian and Grogu premieres on May 22, 2026.
