This article has slight spoilers about Tales of the Underworld based on early reports about the show from Star Wars Celebration Japan.
The next addition of the Tales series is just days away-- unless you want to watch it on Fortnite. Yes, that is a thing that is happening, and we sure did have some thoughts about it. The latest anthology, Tales of the Underworld, will focus on bounty hunters Asajj Ventress and Cad Bane. Long-time Ventress voice actress Nika Futterman shared with StarWars.com her excitement for her character's return and what fans should expect from the series.
Ever since her surprise appearance in The Bad Batch's Season 3 trailer, the creators were very clear up front that they would be honoring Ventress' story in Dark Disciple, the novel by Christie Golden, which wrapped up the Sith assassin turned morally grey bounty hunter's story from The Clone Wars. In the book, Ventress fell in love with Jedi Quinlan Vos, ultimately sacrificing herself to save him.
"No matter how hard she tries now, she can no longer just be dark," Futterman spoke of the change in Ventress in Tales of the Underworld's post-Order 66 timeline. "Anyone who has experienced love can no longer just be dark. Everything was already there lurking below the surface.

It will be fascinating to see how Ventress' return from the dead is explained in the show. Even though I did argue it's something that wasn't needed, I also said that I was fairly positive that Tales of the Underworld would cover that point. Early reports from Star Wars Celebration have noted this is a story that will be addressed.
Futterman does warn fans that this does not mean that Ventress is going to be all good. She shared, "We’ve spent all these years knowing her as a bad guy who was definitely multi-layered but didn’t show a softer side. I don’t want to say she has become soft, but we explore a side of her besides the lone wolf road warrior that we’re familiar with."
Futterman gave fans one last cheer before the show: "Let’s do it, baby. It seems that everybody loves her and wants more.”
We have to see the whole store when Tales of the Underworld arrives on Disney+ on Star Wars Day, May the 4th. You can read Futterman's full interview on StarWars.com.
