Anakin and Obi-Wan fans can't get enough of this Star Wars Episode III deleted scene
Star Wars: Episode III- Revenge of the Sith has several deleted scenes that can be found on YouTube and they all go viral on social media from time to time. Recently, a scene featuring Anakin and Obi-Wan went viral on Reddit, prompting hundreds of reactions from fans, with the majority wishing that the scene was canon.
The hilarious scene shows Anakin speaking droid and trying to translate what R2-D2 said to Obi-Wan after their translator breaks. The two try to understand whether R2 told them to go up or down, but its lighthearted nature makes it a scene that should've made it into the movie. Hayden Christensen seems to be suppressing a laugh the entire time as he beeps and boops like Anakin's beloved droid. It's a scene that showcases the chemistry between Hayden Christensen and Ewan McGregor, something the movie didn't spend much time on.
Though the prequels have been criticized severely for the dialogues, performances, and heavy use of greenscreens, over time fans have grown to adore the chemistry between Christensen and McGregor. The Clone Wars did a brilliant job at filling in all the gaps, and combined with the Revenge of the Sith novelization, Anakin and Obi-Wan's bond is something fans have come to cherish. Christensen and McGregor reprised their roles in Obi-Wan Kenobi (2022), and fans were delighted to see the two sparring in a flashback of Anakin as a Padawan.
Hayden and Ewan's chemistry has a lot to do with their friendship off-screen where the two have become quite fond of one another. Ewan McGregor describes Hayden as a "brother", and both admitted that part of why they wanted to return for the Kenobi series was because it gave them an opportunity to work together again and play these wonderful characters. Let's hope they get to come back again in some capacity and film a few more of those flashback scenes that mean so much to the fans.
In the meantime, fans can look up deleted scenes from Revenge of the Sith on YouTube and maybe one day, LucasFilm will release an extended version of the film, featuring some of these great scenes that didn't make it into the final cut.
