It's always a fun day when we get new Dave Filoni artwork. While we often have to wait for the showrunner to share his work, StarWars.com gifted us brand new concept art for the recently announced Ahsoka Season 2. The image has what we can assume to be Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson) and Sabine Wren (Natasha Liu Bordizzo) standing on top of the Mortis statue on the planet of Peridea in the other galaxy.

The reveal of this statue with The Father, The Daughter, and The Son from the Mortis arc in The Clone Wars was a significant moment in the Season 1 finale. It built up more of the mystery of the planet and added to the motives of what Baylan Skoll (Ray Stevenson) was searching for in this other galaxy.

The Daughter, specifically, is an essential figure in Ahsoka's life. During the Mortis arc, Ahsoka died, and Anakin Skywalker transferred the life force from the Daughter into Ahsoka to allow her to live. Ever since the two have been connected. For example, in Star Wars Rebels, fans meet Morai, a bird-like creature called a convor with the same color scheme as The Daughter. Ahsoka explains that Morai has been a guide for her. After Mortis, convorees can often be seen in the presence of Ahsoka, such as in The Mandalorian and the season finale of Ahsoka.

Out of the three statues on Peridea, The Daughter was broken, while The Father and The Son remained intact. I do not think it's a coincidence that the statue was broken since the life essence of The Daughter lives inside of Ahsoka. Baylan could represent The Father or The Son, waiting to smash those massive sculptures to accomplish his own goals.

It's unknown at this time how the series will address continuing Baylan's story after the passing of Ray Stevenson. For now, we'll have to speculate over Filoni's new artwork while we wait for the new season of Ahsoka.
