Is Abeloth aka The Mother coming to live-action?

According to the latest rumors, casting for The Mother of Mortis and the hunt for Ray Stevenson's replacement as Baylan Skoll are underway as Dave Filoni ramps up work on Ahsoka Season 2.

First, these are rumors, and there's no official confirmation from Lucasfilm. The source of these rumors is insider Daniel Richtman, and fans should take everything with a grain of salt. Should these rumors prove true, the Mandoverse would be expanding in exciting ways. The Mother's live-action debut would finally answer fans' long-standing questions about the mysterious entity Baylan Skoll pursued on Peridea.

Baylan told his Padawan, Shin Hati, that he hoped to end the struggle for power between the Empire and Republic, and something or someone on Peridea held the key to ending it all. Even Shin seemed to sense the presence of something on Peridea and wanted to leave it as quickly as possible, but her Master had no plan of leaving.

The late Ray Stevenson's performance as Baylan Skoll was well received, but after his untimely passing, it seemed likely that the role would need to be re-cast. Baylan's purpose seemed far from over in the finale of Ahsoka. Stevenson's towering performance will be a tough act to follow, but the character seems essential to whatever Filoni is planning.

As for Abeloth, she's connected to the Mortis Gods, first introduced in The Clone Wars. In the Star Wars canon, the deities are known as The Father, The Son, and The Daughter. Notably, statues of these Gods were among the final images in Ahsoka Season 1, leaving a lasting impression on viewers. If Abeloth, known as the "Bringer of Chaos and Destruction" is next, it would open up a world of possibilities beyond Ahsoka Season 2, bringing in a major character from Star Wars Legends.

Until Lucasfilm issues an official statement, these rumors should be viewed as speculative and unconfirmed. Given the studio's reputation for keeping casting news under wraps, fans should exercise caution and not get their hopes up too high.
