America's favorite animated family is teaming up once again with a galaxy far, far away! The Simpsons and Star Wars (along with some other friends along the way) have a new short called "May the 12th Be With You" arriving just in time for Mother's Day when it arrives on Disney+ on May 10.

According to the official press release, " In the upcoming short, it’s Mother’s Day and Marge Simpson joins the moms of Disney+ on a special holiday outing that turns into an epic galactic adventure filled with heroes, villains and a surprising old friend." New artwork was also released featuring Marge along with Chewbacca which you can see below.

Star Wars has been a staple for decades on The Simpsons as the show is the longest-running scripted prime time television series in the United States. The series always made jabs and homages to Star Wars in the name of loving parody. When The Simpsons and Star Wars both came under the Disney umbrella, that's when the real magic happened.

The first short was "Disney Investor Day 2020" where Homer is interviewed by Dana Walden, who is the Chairman of Entertainment for Walt Disney Television. Several nods to Star Wars popped up in the short, including that bounty hunters were good nannies with a cameo from The Mandalorian's Grogu. In the same vein was 2021's "Plusaversary" which saw Star Wars characters mingling with other Disney properties.

Two Star Wars speicals have also come out since the Disney buyout, both featuring Maggie Simpson. The first was 2021's "The Force Awakens from Its Nap" where she's on an epic quest to find her stolen pacifier from a Darth Maul-inspired Gerald. The other was 2023's "Maggie Simpson in: 'Rogue Not Quite One'" where Homer loses Maggie when she hops into Grogu's pram to go on a galactic adventure! However, the battle comes to Springfield...
