Andor: 5 best moments from D23 Expo 2024
It may be a while before Andor Season 2 premieres, but by the looks of footage aired at the D23 Fan Expo 2024, it's worth the wait.
Diego Luna was on hand in Anaheim to present a look at Season 2, which is bigger and more intense than anything we experienced in Season 1. If you thought the Aldhani Heist and Narkina 5 prison arcs were mind-blowing, then the one year jumps coming up after every three episodes in Season 2 require you to fasten your seatbelts! There's a lot to unpack from the Season 2 teaser, which includes interviews with Tony Gilroy, Diego Luna, Genevieve O'Reilly, Adria Arjona, and Alan Tudyk.
Here are the 5 best moments from the Andor teaser shown exclusively at D23 2024!
1. The return of Director Orson Krennec
The first look at Ben Mendelsohn's return as Director Orson Krennec was met with loud cheers at D23, so it's obvious people are pumped to have the Imperial Director back. Mendelsohn's performance as Krennec in Rogue One has always been appreciated. His return as the Death Star-obsessed Imperial is highly anticipated in Season 2, as the deadly weapon will be a major plot point during the show's final season.
2. Mon Mothma addresses the Galactic Senate
The Galactic Senate always hits differently during the Empire's reign, and something is chilling about Mon Mothma addressing the Senate while the galaxy was under the control of a dictator. The teaser features a lot of shots of Mon Mothma in and around the Senate building as she grapples with the rising tension. The pressure will be high on Mothma in Season 2, and we can't wait to see how she handles it.
3. Alan Tudyk returns as K-2SO
Alan Tudyk is back as Cassian's droid pal, K-2SO, in Andor Season 2. His return has been something fans have been looking forward to since Season 1, and it'll be great to see how Cassian grew to trust him, as well as their journey together before Rogue One. Along with Ruescott Melshi and Orson Krennec, K-2SO is one of the most important returning characters from Rogue One, who will play significant roles in Season 2.
4. A glimpse of Yavin 4
There's a quick glimpse of the Rebel Alliance's headquarters on Yavin 4, which is an important location during the early stages of the Rebellion. Yavin 4 will play a significant role as one of the Alliance's main bases, Base One, is where all Rebel High Command, including Mon Mothma, Admiral Raddus, and Bail Organa, held important meetings. Yavin 4 is where the attack on Scarif to retrieve the Death Star blueprints was planned, so it should often appear in Andor Season 2.
5. Captain Cassian Andor of the Rebel Alliance
Cassian's Rogue One costumes and hairstyle are back in Andor Season 2, indicating his growth and progress as a member of the Rebel Alliance. This is what Season 2 will hopefully focus on a great deal, as Cassian's growth into the hero who sacrifices his life in Rogue One is probably the most significant element of Andor. Though there will be frequent time jumps, Season 2 should hopefully do justice to Cassian's journey into becoming an accomplished Rebel Alliance officer.
