Diego Luna promises that Andor fans will get their money's worth in a rich Season 2 series featuring lots of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story cameos.
Luna was at ACE Superhero Comic Con 2024, and according to Screenrant, the actor teased an exciting resolution to the series, which will feature appearances from many beloved Rogue One actors. Andor Season 1 wasn't heavy on cameos, which sets the series apart from the other Star Wars shows on Disney+. Apart from Mon Mothma (Genevieve O'Reilly), Ruescott Melshi (Duncan Pow), and Saw Gerrera (Forest Whitaker), the show doesn't include characters from Rogue One.
Luna described the "cool stuff" that Rogue One fans will be thrilled to see in Season 2:
"I can tell you, Rogue One is coming, so there will be characters there that you will recognize. There will be cool stuff. For those who love Rogue One, this season is going to be very special. And it’s going to be fascinating to go straight to Rogue One after watching this second season, because you will see Rogue One from a different perspective. I promise you that."Diego Luna.
That's not all, as the actor praised Tony Gilroy for a "rich second season" that will resolve stories set up by Season 1:
"I can tell you one thing, Tony Gilroy is a fantastic writer, and he created amazing characters that we got to meet in Andor season one. It’s going to be a very rich second season, because all those stories matter today. It is a true ensemble piece. It got very complicated in season one, and everything has to get resolved. Every story matters."Diego Luna.
Andor Season 1 is set five years before Rogue One and covers one year in the life of Cassian Andor, who decides to join the Rebel cause in the season finale. The second season will cover the remaining four years, and the series finale will lead directly into Rogue One. Exactly who makes an appearance remains to be seen, but one beloved character whose return is confirmed is Cassian's droid companion, K-2SO (Alan Tudyk).
Ben Mendelsohn's Orson Krennic and Mads Mikkelsen's Galen Erso may also make appearances, as the series will surely explore the creation of the Death Star in detail. There's no word yet on whether Jyn Erso may return, but actress Felicity Jones has denied being approached for the series.
Andor Season 2 will premiere in 2025 on Disney+.
