Andor: What I'd like to see more and less of in Season 2

Andor Season 1 received widespread critical acclaim. However, there are aspects of the series that Season 2 needs more of and others that should be toned down. Let's take a look at them.

Andor is probably one of the best things to come out of Star Wars, but that doesn't mean it's perfect. While the show received an overwhelmingly positive response, there are certain aspects I'm not a huge fan of and others that I believe deserve more focus in Season 2.

Let's take a look at what we need more of and less of in Andor Season 2.

1. We need more Cassian Andor

Not everyone who liked Andor is a fan of Cassian Andor. Just go through Lucasfilm's announcement of Andor, and the comments are full of fans complaining and asking why a "boring guy" like Cassian needs his series. I saw those, and I haven't forgotten them because they bothered me. I love Diego Luna and Cassian Andor. Above all, I watched Andor for him and hope he has more screen time than all other characters combined in Season 2. I think Cassian is compelling, and I'm looking forward to seeing his growth into Captain Cassian Andor of the Rebel Alliance.

2. We need less of Syril eating cereal

Some people loved them, but I found repetitive scenes between Syril and his mother boring. I will fast-forward any scenes of him eating cereal in Season 2 because they're completely unnecessary. Once or twice is fine, but there's no need to make it a regular thing, especially as the Rebellion era is loaded with other important characters who deserve the screen time given to Syril's breakfast.

3. We need more aliens

Andor was an impressive series, so fans' complaints about the show's lack of aliens have long been forgotten, but I believe this is one of the show's flaws that need to be fixed in Season 2. I hope more non-human characters get something to do in Season 2, as the Rebellion was a galaxy-wide thing, not just a human thing! Aliens hate tyranny, too, you know?

4. We need less of Syril being a creep towards Deedra

Sorry, but I don't ship it. Syril and Deedra are both weirdos, but Syril was becoming borderline obsessive and creepy. I'm not sure if I want to see more of this in Season 2, where the plot should concern itself with more important things, like the Death Star. I hope Tony Gilroy takes it easy on the creepy. But I have a feeling he won't, and we'll get plenty of Syril, Deedra, and their Imperial "romance."

5. We need more conversations between Luthen Rael and Saw Gerrera

Luthen Rael and Saw Gerrera are played by Stellan Skarsgård and Forest Whitaker, who are arguably two of the best actors in the world right now. Season 1 featured a scene between Luthen and Saw that seemed like something from an Oscar-winning film. This duo and their opposing ideologies should get a lot more focus in Season 2. I want to see what becomes of the idealistic Luthen and radical Saw in Season 2 and if they ever find common ground as the Rebellion scrambles to come together.

6. We need less of Mon Mothma's husband

I think I've had enough of that guy! Mon Mothma's husband is a bit of a jerk, and the poor woman seems surrounded by lesser beings. It's hard to secretly fund a galaxy-wide Rebellion while being married to the shallow, one-dimensional Perrin Fertha. While I'm curious to see what becomes of him, Mon Mothma's marriage, and her daughter, I still hope we don't see too much of Perrin in Season 2.

7. We need more Brasso

Brasso is the man, the friend we all need, and probably one of the best people Cassian knew before joining the Rebellion, but I fear for his future. Brasso escaped Ferrix along with Bix Caleen at the end of Season 1, and where he goes from here is anyone's guess. Still, please give me some more of the big guy and his loyalty towards Cassian.

8. We need more Rogue One parallels

Andor Season 1 is full of parallels to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. In particular, you can find several parallels between Cassian and Jyn in Rogue One. As a big fan of the movie and Cassian and Jyn as a duo, I would love more parallels that help tie these two characters and their destinies together and remind us that all roads lead to Scarif.

9. We need more B2EMO

Perhaps the most Star Wars thing about Andor is Cassian and Maarva's adorable droid, B2EMO, who's loyal, sweet, and sensitive. B2 was left heartbroken by Maarva's death, so Brasso stayed to keep the poor thing company. Everyone wants to know what eventually happens to B2, with some theorizing that he gets converted into K-2SO, Cassian's Rogue One companion. I can't wait to see more of B2EMO, and I hope he gets reunited with Cassian.

10. We need more cameos

Andor isn't a show meant to please fans, and Gilroy does his own thing. However, Gilroy can get away with a cameo by anyone within this era of Star Wars without anyone accusing him of catering to fans. I'm just hoping for a few minutes of Jyn Erso, even if it may seem canonically impossible. She's one of my favorite characters in Star Wars, and this is a great way to bring her back one more time.
