Congratulations, Cal Kestis! You're a Grammy winner!

Last night at the 2024 Grammy Awards, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor won the Best Score Soundtrack for Video Games and Other Interactive Media award. Composers Stephen Barton and Gordy Haab accepted the honor. This is only the second year for this specific category, as we first reported last year. Jedi: Survivor beat out Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, God of War Ragnarok, Hogwarts Legacy, and Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical.

Barton and Haab thanked their families and the teams at EA and Respawn. They also dedicated the award to music teachers and the hard work they do for their students. You can see the full acceptance speech below.

The Best Video Game Score was added by the Recording Academy to the Grammy Awards last year. When it was announced in 2022 alongside four new categories, CEO Harvey Mason Jr. stated, "We're so excited to honour these diverse communities of music creators through the newly established awards and amendments, and to continue cultivating an environment that inspires change, progress and collaboration. The Academy's top priority is to effectively represent the music people that we serve, and each year, that entails listening to our members and ensuring our rules and guidelines reflect our ever-evolving industry."

It was such an exciting addition to the Grammy Awards. Video Games are so personal to fans, which are the scores of generations. As someone who constantly works to soundtracks like Kingdom Hearts, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, and, yes, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Survivor, it was such a welcomed change.

It is an honor for Jedi: Suvivor to claim this prize with only award's second year of existence. Perhaps Star Wars Outlaws will be the next Grammy winner in a galaxy far, far away after it's release later this year.
