Young Jedi Adventures recap: Yoda's Mission
The Young Jedi Adventures episode “Yoda’s Mission” opens with our favorite Jedi younglings battling a training droid. This isn’t like the ones back in the temple on Coruscant. Kai Brightstar, Lys Solay, and Nubs have to get by the droid and get on the end platform together. Along with the other Jedi younglings and their teacher, Master Zia Zanna, their non-Force user friend, Nash Durango and her droid RJ-83, cheer them on.
Lys has the idea to go over the droid, and she hops on the end platform first. Nubs follows but comes up short, dangling on a rope just beneath. Kai rushes to save his friend, but the training droid disarms him. Kai wants to get his lightsaber. Lys says there’s no time and to leave it to save Nubs.
Kai decides that he can do both. Using the Force, he lifts Nubs and pulls his lightsaber to him. But he accidentally drops his friend just as the time runs out. They’ve failed the test.
Afterwards, Zia brings them all around for their special guest, Master Yoda!
Kai is embarrassed that Yoda saw the three of them fail the training. Yoda tells him it’s important to save people over objects; lightsabers can be replaced.
Zia says that Yoda has brought special news for her class: All the Jedi are invited to attend a festival in the nearby town of Kublop Springs. They will be performing a demonstration of their skills.
Yoda pulls Lys, Kai, and Nubs to the side for a word. He has a special mission for them to get something for the festival. It’s important to him and the ceremony. After the Jedi Master gives them directions to follow, the younglings and Nash race to her ship, the Crimson Firehawk.
But uh oh! The younglings are being watched by the villainous kid pirate Taborr Val Dorn. After their first encounter in “The Young Jedi,” Taborr now sees these other kids as his nemeses. Taborr, along with his crew of droid EB-3 and the Gamorrean, Pord, proposes that if the Jedi fail, then they could get sent away. The pirates would be free to be pirates again without Jedi interference. They decide to steal whatever the Jedi are after to make sure they fail.
The younglings arrive in a town in the desert of Tenoo. Picking up a bag of seeds from the vendor, they think it’s a strange item. But if it’s important to Yoda, it’s important to them! They race back to Nash’s ships. Suddenly, Nash picks up a distress signal nearby. The message is garbled. They decide that helping someone in need is more important than Yoda’s mission. The group heads out to find the people in trouble.
The kids leave the bag of seeds in the ship.
Running into a dead end, our heroes discover a message from Taborr waiting for them. He’s already infiltrated the Firehawk and nabbed Yoda’s bag of seeds. Our heroes race back to Nash’s ship-!
And they find it completely trashed.
The Jedi decide to find Taborr while Nash and RJ fix the ship. The only place nearby in the desert is Yarrum Tower, where pirates sell their stolen items. Nash lets them borrow her speeder bike, and they race to the tower.
Where Taborr and his crew are being laughed at for trying to sell worthless seeds. Taborr is crossed that the seller calls him “cute” and marches back to his ship. Little does he know that the younglings have slipped inside of his ship. They find the seeds, but Nubs accidentally knocks over some boxes.
Taborr and his crew face off against the Jedi. It’s back and forth until Kai opens the back door of the ship. Nubs and Lys hop out while Kai holds off the pirate.
Suddenly, Nash swoops in to pick up her friends. Just like in the training session to open the episode, nubs doesn’t make the jump to the ship. He’s dangling by a rope and in danger! Before Kai can help, Taborr steals his lightsaber.
Kai decides to leave his lightsaber; saving Nubs is far more important. Pushing his friend with the Force, Kai gets Nubs to safety before hopping on himself. Nash takes off with her friends safe while Taborr is angry the Jedi got away.
The group gets back just in time for the festival. They give Yoda his bag of seeds, which are actually rare sparkle-fire seeds. They symbolize friendship between the Jedi and the people of the galaxy. As the planet of Tenoo’s moons come in alignment, Yoda plants the seeds in their light. Instantly, the seeds bloom into a gorgeous flower…
A flower that shoots off fireworks!
Later, Kai tells Yoda about losing his lightsaber to Taborr. Yoda is proud of him and gives Kai his personal training lightsaber from when Yoda was his age.
Kai ignites his new lightsaber which is where the episode “Yoda’s Mission” ends.
