The highly anticipated series Star Wars: The Acolyte may have its release date set. It was previously reported as having a summer window. However, a new source seems to give fans of The High Republic an actual date.
According to Collider, The Acolyte has a tentative release date of June 5, 2024, premiering exclusively on Disney+.
While Collider is a solid source, this date should still be taken with a grain of salt. Anything that doesn't come from Lucasfilm itself is always subject to change. However, I wouldn't be surprised if this date stays for one reason: May the 4th.
Exactly one month before this is Star Wars Day, and a trailer for The Acolyte would be exciting to release on that day. It's common for some sort of announcement or reveal on May the 4th to pop up. Also, Star Wars usually likes to release trailers about a month before a show debuts. While this date isn't set in stone, all the stars seem to be aligning for June.
Star Wars: The Acolyte is a highly anticipated show, taking place in the final days of The High Republic about 50 years before the events of Episode I: The Phantom Menace. It's a nice tie-in with Episode I's 25th anniversary in May when fans will see the film return to theaters. The High Republic era focuses on the golden age of the Jedi and the beginning of their downfall into the prequel era. With the gritty, noir-inspired series, The Acolyte promises to be a darker show. So far, we've only seen the era in the preschool series Young Jedi Adventures. This will be the first time in live action.
The Acolyte is tentatively set to release on June 5 on Disney+.
