The Acolyte looks grim in the best way possible
How are you doing, High Republic fans? Are you feeling okay today? We got a teaser poster for the highly anticipated series Star Wars: The Acolyte, and it's grim in the best way possible.
Headed up by showrunner Leslye Headland (Russian Dolls), the series has been promoted to be a Noir-inspired show set in the golden age of the Jedi Order, The High Republic era. But, as the teaser poster from StarWars.com below shows, not all is well.
The Acolyte takes place in the waning days of the Jedi and the Republic, leading into the darker years that lead up to Emperor Palpatine's rise, which we first see in Episode I: The Phantom Menace. A Jedi Master (Lee Jung-jae) looks into an ongoing crime spree, which puts him on the path to meeting his former padawan, played by Amandla Stenberg. Together, something far more sinister rises as the once luminous Jedi Order and Republic begin to fade.
The series also stars Manny Jacinto, Dafne Keen, Charlie Barnett, Jodie Turner-Smith, Rebecca Henderson, Dean-Charles Chapman, Joonas Suotamo, and Carrie-Anne Moss. Along with Headland, the executive producers on the show are Kathleen Kennedy, Simon Emanuel, Jeff F. King, and Jason Micallef. It's also been confirmed that Headland's wife, Rebecca Henderson, will play the fan-favorite character Vernestra Rwoh.
Fans of The High Republic have been excited about this series. So far, the only show we have from this era is the Emmy Award-winning preschool series Young Jedi Adventures. This will be the first time the time period will be in live action. The multimedia project has had numerous New York Times Bestsellers, starting with the first book, Star Wars The High Republic: Light of the Jedi by Charles Soule.
Star Wars: The Acolyte is set to release this summer on Disney+ on June 4th.
