Additionally, as per Deadline, The Mandalorian & Grogu is "Estimated to be hiring 500 crew members, 54 cast members, and 3500 background players for 92 filming days in California this year" and "is expected to generate a record-breaking $166,438,000 in qualified expenditures and below-the-line wages".
The California Film Commission distributes millions in production tax credits annually, and The Mandalorian & Grogu is one of 15 films set to receive incentives. These incentives are expected to pump $408 million of spending into the state's economy and generate lots of jobs in the process.
The Mandalorian & Grogu is expected to start filming in June and will wrap up sometime in October if all goes well. Series creator Jon Favreau will direct, and the movie will be co-written by Favreau and Lucasfilm Chief Creative Officer, Dave Filoni. Filming is expected to take place entirely in California.
Details regarding the plot are unknown, but you can bet your money on the Mandalorian and his son, Grogu, being at the heart of the story. Pedro Pascal will surely make room in his hectic schedule for the movie, especially as now, Pascal is also starring as Reed Richards in Marvel's Fantastic Four movie. Fantastic Four is also produced by Disney, which means that Pascal will be the lead actor in two Disney films this year. Disney will undoubtedly want to ensure that The Mandalorian & Grogu milk Pedro's stardom to the fullest, so expect him to show his face at some point.
There's no further information on who else will appear in the movie, but composer Ludwig Goransson has expressed his desire to return.
The Mandalorian & Grogu will be released in 2026.
