The Mandalorian's Carl Weathers passed away at the age of 76. The actor's family released a statement with the following via Deadline:

"We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Carl Weathers. He died peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, February 1st, 2024. Carl was an exceptional human being who lived an extraordinary life. Through his contributions to film, television, the arts and sports, he has left an indelible mark and is recognized worldwide and across generations. He was a beloved brother, father, grandfather, partner, and friend."

Playing the role of Greef Karga since the first episode of the series, he's been a mainstay throughout all three seasons of the show as an ally for Din Djarin and Grogu. The part of Karga garnered Weathers an Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series.
Weathers also directed the Season 2 episode of The Mandalorian "The Siege" and the Season 3 episode "The Foundling."

It's unknown at this time how much of a role he would have played in future seasons, or the recently announced The Mandalorian & Grogu film. However, considering his presence throughout the show thus far, it's safe to say he probably had some sort of part.

After retiring from his professional football career, Weathers began acting with his first major role in the 1975 film Bucktown. He would make a name for himself in a breakout performance of Apollo Creed in Rocky. Afterward, he starred in many hit films like Predator and Happy Gilmore. Also a prominent voice actor, Weathers lent his talents to movies like Toy Story 4 and series like Star vs. The Force of Evil.

These are always the worst news articles to write when a galaxy far, far away loses one of its own. Weathers has been such a prominent part of The Mandalorian that it's hard to imagine the series without him. I'm sure he will be honored in some way in the show. For now, we raise our lightsabers for one we have lost.
