After a quiet Wednesday last week, this week in Star Wars comics, April ramps up in a big way with several new releases, including new trade paperbacks out on Tuesday. From a double dose of Darth Vader to a familiar face from The High Republic's Phase II making his return in Phase III, let's dive into this week's Star Wars comics!

Darth Vader #45

Darth Vader and his allies continue to scheme about taking down Emperor Palpatine. However, this plan will take him to a dangerous location first brought up in the Doctor Aphra comics: The Martyrium of Frozen Tears. This place made of pure kyberite contains a confessional where Jedi would spill all their regrets to the Force. What does this sacred place have to do with Vader's plans? You'll have to grab the issue to find out. It's written by Greg Pak with Adam Gorham and Paul Fry doing double duty on illustrations. The cover artist is Leinil Francis Yu.

Thrawn: Alliance #4

The fourth and final issue of Thrawn: Alliances closes out the Thrawn and Anakin Skywalker/Vader evil buddy trip around the galaxy in the past and present. Adapting the novel by Timothy Zahn of the same title, these comics are a great way to see books come to life. It's written by Jody Houser with art by Andrea Di Vito and Pat Olliffe. The cover artist is Rod Reis.

The High Republic #6

Well, hi there, Tey Sirrek! Welcome back from Phase II!

Tey was one of the breakout characters from the Phase II run of The High Republic, so it's great to see his return in the current series. Especially with things tense with Terec and Ceret, who find him. Meanwhile, Keeve might have found her lost Jedi Master, Sskeer, but not everything is as it seems with him. There is someone Sskeer is protecting despite not being himself. The High Republic #6 is written by Cavan Scott with Laura Braga and Jim Towe on illustrations. The cover artist is Phil Noto.

Star Wars: Bounty Hunters Vol. 7 — Dark Droids

The latest trade paperback from the Dark Droids event from last year is here, and it's the crossover Star Wars: Bounty Hunters Vol. 7 — Dark Droids. Ethan Sacks' series jumped in with the comic event with Valance corrupted by the villainous Scourge, threatening both his allies and enemies. This trade will be released on April 16, wherever you get your books.

Star Wars Legends Epic Collection: The New Republic Vol. 1

Jumping into Star Wars Legends, we have a reprint trade collection of Star Wars Legends Epic Collection: The New Republic Vol. 1. This collection includes Star Wars: Mara Jade - By the Emperor's Hand, Shadows of the Empire - Evolution, The Jabba Tape, and more. This trade will also be released on April 16.
