September kicks off with several titles out this week. The weird thing about them is they're mostly one-shots. Overall, it's going to be a transitional month, with several of the mainline titles ending for the relaunch comic events in October.
Let's buckle in for a wild four weeks, and dive into This Week in Star Wars Comics.
The Acolyte – Kelnacca #1
The Acolyte - Kelnacca #1 feels a bit bittersweet with the cancellation of the show. However, I'm still excited for this book as Kelnacca was one of the characters that deserved more time. It's also exciting to see how this bridges the earlier High Republic storytelling to one hundred years later to The Acolyte. There's also an interview in the issue with Joonas Suotamo who played the Wookiee Jedi Master. This one-shot dives into Kelnnaca's history prior to the show. It's written by Cavan Scott, the illustrator is Marika Cresta, and the cover artist is Phil Noto.
The High Republic Adventures: Crash and Burn
The next one-shot on the list is The High Republic Adventures: Crash and Burn. Crash Ongwa and her team have a tense allyship with the supposedly ex-Nihil, Krix Kamerat. Their mission is to assassinate the leader of the Nihil, Marchion Ro, and bring an end to his reign of terror. However, will Krix keep his word or trick them? This all-ages comic from Dark Horse Comics was written by Daniel José Older and illustrated by Nick Brokenshire. The cover artist is Rachele Aragno.
The High Republic Adventures – Echoes of Fear #1
The only title this week that's not a one-shot kicks off a new miniseries The High Republic Adventures – Echoes of Fear #1. This all-ages comic follows Jedi Knight Reath Silas and Padawan Amadeo Azzazzo as they delve into the history of a mysterious Sith Lord, Darth Ravi, in their quest to uncover the secret of the Echo Stones. These artifacts amplify the Force in the wielder, making them more powerful. They could help the Jedi in their quest or destroy them entirely. The High Republic Adventures – Echoes of Fear #1 is written by George Mann, illustrated by Vincenzo Federici and Vincenzo Riccardi, and the cover artist is Eduardo Mello.
Star Wars Vol. 8: The Sith and the Skywalker by Charles Soule
One trade paperback was out this week, and that was Star Wars Vol. 8: The Sith and the Skywalker by Charles Soule. In his quest to find answers about how to beat Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker accidentally sends his mind into the past to face down another Sith Lord. Meanwhile, Lando Calrissian is on trial for selling secrets of the Rebellion to save the life of his friend Lobot. Treason is on the table, and the only way Lando might get out of it is to help save the life of Mon Mothma.
That's is for another edition of This Week in Star Wars Comics! See you in the splash pages!
