Mace Windu is getting his own Star Wars book in canon next month -- and there's a special version of it that you can only get if you attend New York Comic-Con.
From October 17 to 20, the duration of the convention, you can visit a specific booth to purchase an exclusive edition of the book. The purchase includes the special edition book with the exclusive cover as well as a pin.
Author Steven Barnes, who previously wrote an in-universe book as part of the Legends (or Expanded Universe) continuity back in the 2000s, is making his grand return to a galaxy far, far away.
The book takes place after the events of Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace, and follows Mace Windu on a mission to a dangerous planet on behalf of his friend and fellow Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn. The Jedi may be one with the Force, but it turns out he left behind something important -- something he needs Mace to finish in his absence.
The Glass Abyss is set in a time period that hasn't been covered much so far in Star Wars canon. It's a strange time in the galaxy when the Clone Wars are a decade away but systems still desperately need the Jedi to help keep the peace and maintain balance in the Force.
It's quite possible we will learn things about Mace Windu in this book that we never knew before or learn something about Qui-Gon Jinn that until now was only known by those closest to him. The prequel kids really are having a great year, and the fun isn't even over yet.
Star Wars Mace Windu: The Glass Abyss by Steven Barnes releases everywhere on October 15, 2024 wherever you get your Star Wars books.
