While this is a Star Wars website, sometimes we just need to scream about the actors in this excellent franchise being in other stuff. As the kids say, "I was today years old" finding out that one of my favorite Star Wars actors is starring in an adaptation of one of my favorite books of all time. We got our first look at Oscar Isaac as Victor Frankenstein in the upcoming Frankenstein this November.

Be still my little fangirl heart.

Via Variety, the film is being directed by Guillermo del Toro, which is excellent in itself. I adore every word I just typed. Then, adding Oscar Isaac as the titular character already makes this movie perfect. It also has another Star Wars connection with Grand Admiral Thrawn's actor Lars Mikkelsen as one of the stars too.

My love of Frankenstein grew from the fantastic Nick Dear's version starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Johnny Lee Miller paying both Victor and Adam, the often name of the monster. They would play each play a character and then swap roles the next night. I saw both versions, thanks to Fathom Events, in a movie theatre. I recommend it if you ever see it going around. I'm not the biggest reader of classic books, but I devoured the novel shortly afterward.

Also, fun fact: We would not have Star Wars without Frankenstein. Always remember that Mary Shelley is considered the creator of modern sci-fi. That's right! Science fiction as we know it was created by a teenage girl! And they say that girls don't like this stuff!

Oscar Isaac has become such a powerhouse actor, especially exploding over the last several years. My first real exposure to him was The Force Awakens, which is turning ten years old this year just FYI. I immediately fell in love with Poe Dameron and his friendship (which should have been a romance since that's how Isaac was playing it) with Finn.

Since then, he's done amazing role after role from Dune, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, and Moon Knight, which is my personal favorite. To quote the hosts of the YouTube channel Cinema Therapy, Moon Knight is about Oscar Isaac learning how to love Oscar Isaac which makes the show so wonderful.

It's clear that Isaac is staying a busy man. I do hope there is some time that he will get the chance to come back to Star Wars for the upcoming Daisy Ridley Rey Skywalker film. I need to see him with Finn and Rey where they all go on their next adventure.

Until then, I am looking forward to Frankenstein. Isaac playing one of my favorite literary characters? Sign me the heckin' heck up!
