It's still hard to believe that The Bad Batch didn't reveal that Tech was secretly alive before 2024's emotional series finale. If you're one of the many Star Wars fans still mourning the loss, you're in luck: Tech is returning after all -- in the form of a book, that is.
That's right, the rumors about a Bad Batch novel are true! StarWars.com announced earlier this morning that Star Wars: Sanctuary — A Bad Batch Novel will be officially published later this year, featuring Tech and other members of Clone Force 99 set during the events of Season 2 of the show.
The book is written by Lamar Giles, who is actually a veteran Star Wars author. Giles wrote a short story as part of the From a Certain Point of View: Return of the Jedi anthology in 2023 called "Twenty and Out" about Imperial weapons technician Corr Lerrann.
Sanctuary tells the story of Clone Force 99's mission to rebuild Pabu after its devastation. Things very rarely go right for the Batch for very long, so the action and suspense are bound to bring readers right back into the exciting lives of Omega, Hunter, Wrecker, and Tech. It will be just like they never left us, even though they did, but we don't need to think too hard about that when we're too busy turning pages in a new Star Wars book.
I'd like to believe this book is happening, at least to some degree, because of how beloved this show still is even though it aired its final Disney+ episode. There are some characters who are just worth further exploration across storytelling mediums. While it will be wonderful to "see" Tech again, this book will likely give other characters the chance to grow and shine as well.
