Star Wars may be headed to a galaxy even farther away, with a new book confirming the existence of Peridea, a planet located in a different galaxy.

The introduction of a new galaxy, beyond the one where all Star Wars stories are set, is by far one of the biggest things to come out of Ahsoka Season 1. Not only does it push the boundaries, but it opens the door to new worlds, new characters, and new conflicts.

Via ScreenRant, Peridea's existence is acknowledged within the Star Wars galaxy in a new book Star Wars Bestiary, Vol. 1: Creatures of the Galaxy by S. T. Bende, in which a scientist named Ardis San Tekka talks about Howlers. Howlers are creatures native to Peridea, last seen in Ahsoka Season 1. The fact that Tekka knows about Howlers and their native world, and acknowledges that it's beyond the known galaxy, means that everyone within the Star Wars galaxy will soon discover that Peridea exists.

The question is, how does San Tekka know all this? Did she travel to Peridea, or was this knowledge passed down over the years to him? Star Wars Bestiary is set after the events of The Rise of Skywalker, which means information about Peridea and the new galaxy spread and was confirmed by someone who had been there. It could be Ezra Bridger, who just returned home from Peridea in the Ahsoka finale, or Thrawn, who may share information about Peridea with his allies. Thrawn and Ezra are living proof that Peridea exists. However, if Ahsoka Tano and Sabine Wren survive their ordeal and come back, they could provide key information about Peridea and the new galaxy as well.

Above all, this raises questions about how people within the Star Wars galaxy would've reacted to information about Peridea. Would it have raised curiosity to explore different worlds? The book likely doesn't shed any light on how much of the new galaxy may have already been explored, along with much else. However, fans have been theorizing the possibility of future Star Wars stories to be set there.

The potential for new worlds without the possibility of continuity issues within the Star Wars timeline is limitless. Characters within the Star Wars galaxy could travel to and permanently settle on Peridea or another inhabitable world. This would separate them from the events in the Star Wars galaxy, which could be used as a reason to explain the absence of certain Mandoverse characters in the sequel trilogy. This means the struggle between the Republic and the Empire and all beliefs regarding the Force would be of no concern in the new galaxy.

It's quite possible that understanding the Force and how it manifests itself could differ greatly between Peridea and the rest of the new galaxy compared to the Star Wars world. If so, this could give the franchise an exciting new direction.

Ahsoka is streaming on Disney+, and Season 2 will go into production next year.
