I'm one of many devastated by the news that Star Wars: Hunters is officially shutting down this October. Though I'm not much of a gamer, this one has kept me entertained and fueled my desperate escapism since its June 2024 release. I don't want to see it go, but I also know how these things work. Sometimes, endings are inevitable, no matter how devastating.
There is one final content update scheduled for April 15, and while there are plenty of worthwhile elements coming along with that, there's really only one pressing matter I hope the developers address: The state of Sprocket's Mastery (Part II).
When his kit got a major overhaul at the beginning of last season, the change unintentionally made one of the objectives in his second mastery impossible to complete. In Part 5, users must use his Targeting Drone ability 100 times. But his targeting drones no longer exist due to the kit changes.
I'm not the only player who has run across this problem, of course. There is, technically, a workaround to this problem. According to this Reddit thread, once you complete all other tasks as part of the mastery, you can submit a tech ticket in-game, and they'll "complete" the final task for you. But that's extra work for everyone. This could, perhaps, be an easy fix for the devs for all users. (I can't say this with certainty, as only a player. But so much of the rest of the game is near-perfect, and this fix seems potentially small.)
I don't like asking for these sorts of things publicly, especially since the game is on its way to permanent closure, and none of this will matter six months from now. But Sprocket deserves the world, and for those of us who have been playing religiously since Day 1, we just want to see his final quest completed for all who dare to venture that far.
Sprocket and his friends have brought me and my fellow Hunters players so much joy since the game's release. I've spent many evenings and live streams winning, losing, and enjoying every minute of this adventure. As a show of my genuine appreciation for everyone who made this game possible, it's my goal to master every character by the time all this is over. There's just one small thing standing in the way of that. For now.
