Everything you missed at the Lucasfilm Publishing panel at NYCC 2024
The Lucasfilm Publishing panel is always a highlight at New York Comic Con. This year did not disappoint, especially if you're a fan of The High Republic! Also, new comic series were announced, a title reveal for The Acolyte novels, and more! Let's dive into everything you missed at the panel.
The High Republic
The High Republic was the star of the show, as Phase III will bring the multimedia project to a close for now. Via StarWars.com, several titles, cover art, and concept artwork were revealed.
The showstopper was the reveal of fan favorite characters Avar Kriss, Bell Zettifar, Elzar Mann, Burryaga, and Azlin Rell in Jedi Temple Guard armor, which is in credibly awesome to see. You can see the full lineup on StarWars.com, where it says that they're taking "the battle to the Nihil and the Nameless!"
We also got the titles and covers for several Phase III books. A Valiant Vow is a middle grade book by Justina Ireland staring Imri Cantaros and Tep Tep. Into the Light by Claudia Gray will feature Reath Silas facing dangers as a Jedi Knight.
The villainous (or anti-hero?) Lourna Dee got two new images. First was a look at the comic cover of The High Republic #2. The other was a dangerous dance with Marchion Ro from the upcoming audio drama Tempest Breaker.
Taking over the Star Wars Insider short stories is Lydia Kang! Her first story will feature the kick-butt husband and wife duo of Joss and Pikka Arden (who are expecting a child!). There was also a first look at upcoming comic panels from The High Republic Adventures, which you can see on StarWars.com.
New Star Wars Comic Series Announced!
Marc Guggenheim arrived with some exciting news! A pre-The Phantom Menace comic book series was announced: Star Wars: Jedi Knights! Each issue is a one shot focusing on a different character, including Yoda, Mace Windu, Qui-Gon Jinn, and more! Cover artwork shared by Yap Sesh Podcast's Sawyer showcased other fan favorite Jedi too, like Kit Fisto, Yaddle, and the recently popular Ki-Adi-Mundi.
The Acolyte's Title Reveal
It was announced earlier this year that The Acolyte was getting two novels, one about Yord Fandar and Jecki Lon. We now know the title! The Acolyte: The Crystal Crown is written by Tessa Gratton and will feature the duo reuniting.
