Luke Skywalker does not initially believe that the mysterious creature he meets on Dagobah can be the Jedi master, Yoda. However, in The Empire Strikes Back, Yoda soon reveals himself to Luke and begins Luke's path toward his true purpose and training.

This is very similar to the character of Qimir in the series The Acolyte. In the first few episodes, he displayed himself as an awkward former smuggler. He assisted Mae on her journey to kill off Jedi who wronged her on Brendok.

However, in the episode "Night," he reveals himself to be The Stranger, a Sith with the power of the dark side. He soon leads both Osha and Mae away from the light and into the path of darkness and hatred, setting the galaxy on its eventual course of self-destruction.

In the beginning of their stories, both Qimir and Yoda are seen as neither wise nor powerful but fumbling individuals who should not be taken too seriously. Luke, Osha, Mae, and The High Republic Jedi only soon realize their error as both individuals are presented as key figures in their journeys.

Both Qimir and Yoda put on a display of innocence but show their true colors to their eventual apprentices.

However, there is a stark difference between the Jedi Master and the Sith. Yoda reveals himself to Luke, as Luke cannot see what is in front of him in Yoda's hut. It is due to Luke's own ignorance that Yoda chooses to show him who he is and begins to challenge him in the way Luke needs.

Qimir does reveal himself to the twins and the Jedi, but more so because he feels back into a corner. He had to take on the Jedi rather than wanting to like Yoda. Yoda's choice to reveal himself to Luke is also due to the events that Qimir sets in motion as he trains Osha and Mae and has connections to Darth Plagueis, the eventual master of Palpatine.

Yoda instantly makes Luke a better person and Jedi. Qimir instantly corrupts Osha. However, in the end, both Luke and Rey, under the guidance of Yoda, find a way to defeat the Sith.
