One of many notable elements about Skeleton Crew that makes it great is its subtle Star Wars "easter eggs." These references -- such as the very brief nod to the original Star Wars Holiday Special in the first episode -- are quick and easy to miss. The quality of the story doesn't depend on whether or not the viewer notices them, but they can sometimes offer clues pointing toward what's to come.
This might be the case for one of these easter eggs in episode 7, "We're Gonna Be In So Much Trouble," -- a nod to Knights of the Old Republic, as reported by ScreenRant. We've known for a while that At Attin's mysterious Supervisor has made sure leaving or entering the planet's atmosphere is nearly impossible, but how long has this been the case?
The mention of the arrival of an emissary may suggest a possible answer. In the era of The Old Republic, an emissary from the Republic was dispatched to another independent system to negotiate peace. For the planet of At Attin, this could mean that it and its people may have always been intended to operate independently from all other systems -- suggesting that perhaps its mint isn't the only thing worth hiding.
Concepts from Star Wars Legends (media produced before the canon reset in 2014) have been adopted into canon many times -- everything from names to planets and even characters (Grand Admiral Thrawn, anyone?). It only makes sense that something small like the presence of an emissary from the New Republic might suggest there are more secrets to be revealed -- whether the viewer is familiar with the Old Republic era or not.
Next week's finale will ideally reveal all viewers have been waiting to know about Jod, At Attin, the identity of the Supervisor, and more. Then it will be time to watch the whole series over again to see every little thing we might have missed that hinted at the story's outcome all along!
