Young Jedi Adventures returned for a second season in August 2024, and I looked forward to it. Having gotten on board with Kai, Brightstar Lys Solay, and Nubs and self-identifying as a green-eyed adventurer with red hair like Nash Durango, I looked forward to seeing what came next.

Here are the 5 best moments of Young Jedi Adventures Season 2.

1. Nubs-tacle Course

This short, released before the rest of the season, shows Nubs in a familiar situation. Nubs is my favorite for his tendency to work through discouragement and this was no exception. He tries his best to excel or even complete an obstacle course that comes easily to Kai Brightstar. He gives in to understandable frustration when persistence doesn't pay off. In the end, he is able to stay calm and use his trust in the Force to succeed but then refuses to do it again. I could definitely relate.

2. The Prince of Masks

We learned in the last season that the series' kid-sized antagonist, Taborr Val Dorn, is actually Prince Cyrus Vuundir. In Season 2, he's back to his old ways. He dresses up and has scoundrel-like adventures, but he's also conflicted because he's starting to become friends with those pesky Jedi. In "The Prince of Masks," he goes to great lengths to help his frenemies without them noticing. He then has to work equally hard to explain where he was during these acts of subterfuge. I'm rooting for a good ending for these crazy kids.

3. Heroes and Hotshots

Season 1, in my opinion, was a little lacking in a middle ground. Sure, Master Zia wasn't as experienced as Master Yoda, but she was years past remembering what it was like to be a frustrated kid. In Season 2, we meet her Padawan, Wes Vinik. This older apprentice has confidence that comes from training and adventures chasing pirates through the Moons of Iego, but he does need to be helped when he confidently gets himself captured by pirates. His humble response is what makes this half of episode 1 work so well, and we look forward to him letting the younglings help him out more.

4. Uprooted

New arrival Linh shares Nubs' love for growing things and cherishes the idea of going to find a rare barelia flower. When the one on Tenoo goes missing, they realize that it's being overcared for and undernourished by a woman who wants to cultivate plants according to her own version of horticulture. I love that Linh is both passionate and rational and is able to get the flower back to its right place by citing her sources and persuading someone. It's a good moment of maturity for the next class of newbies.

5. Nubs' Big Mistake

I can't write about this season without mentioning David Tennant. This Scottish actor has been involved in some of my favorite projects of the 21st Century, and he plays Professor Huyang, who has taught uncounted generations of Jedi how to build a lightsaber. In this episode, Nubs finds the lightsaber of a Poobian Jedi and struggles to get what he needs for the lightsaber to be rebuilt. In the end, because of his hard work and Huyang's help, he's able to wield the ancient saber as the Poobian of old did.
