With the big screen debut of Din Djarin and Grogu set for next year, it's obvious that these characters are important to Star Wars' future. Yet, five years after the show began, its main character has seen his ups and downs.
At one point, it seemed like he would be stuck in his corner of the galaxy and remain a bounty hunter for life. Djarin's importance in Star Wars began to increase as he came in contact with people like Ahsoka Tano and Luke Skywalker, and adopted a Force-sensitive child.
Recently, The Mandalorian season 3 threw Din's story into limbo, as the previous seasons seemed to hint that Din would have an important choice to make. With the Darksaber in his possession, the show had an opportunity to change direction and focus on Din Djarin's growth into a leader. Season 3 made it clear that he has no interest in leading the Mandalorians, but this doesn't explain a moment from Chapter 1 of the series that has stayed with me.
In Chapter 1, our helmeted hero found himself on the barren desert planet called Arvala-7. Mando was in search of a prized asset, and while navigating Arvala's tough terrain, he was attacked by a blurrg. An Ugnaught named Kuiil saved him from the animal, and Kuiil and Djarin became friends. For Kuiil, meeting a Mandalorian for the first time was a big deal. He had only heard the stories, including stories of Mandalorians riding the Great Mythosaur.

Before Kuiil agreed to take him to the compound where the asset was being held, he insisted that Djarin learn to ride a blurrg. It was impossible to travel the distance in a place like Arvala-7 without one. Djarin tried to tame one and gave up quickly. That's when Kuiil reminded him, "You are a Mandalorian. Your ancestors rode the Great Mythosaur."
Kuiil's reminder was a hint that a Mythosaur would appear on the show. The Mythosaur appeared in season 3, and even though it didn't emerge from the living waters, it seems likely that it will be shown again. While some fans think that the Mythosaur's role was to inspire Bo-Katan to believe in herself, I still stand firmly on my opinion that Din Djarin's destiny is tied to it.
Din and Grogu were seen working together as partners in season 3. As Grogu becomes more sure of his abilities, he can help his father in ways the bounty hunter never imagined. It's just as likely that Grogu will tame the Mythosaur as well, but there's a reason why they're known as "A Clan of Two". They complete each other, and I believe, Kuiil's reminder that Din's ancestors rode the Mythosaur foreshadowed a future where the Mandalorian would ride one himself.
It would be great writing by Jon Favreau if Kuiil's words prove to be true. It would mean that Din's destiny was already revealed in Chapter 1, and it just took time for him to fulfill it. Taming the Mythosaur might prove that he's destined for greatness, despite his hesitation to lead. Mando and Grogu have brought peace and prosperity wherever they've been, including Mos Pelgo, Kuiil's valley on Aravala-7, and the city of Calodan on Corvus. If they ride the Mythosaur, it could herald a new era of peace and prosperity for Mandalore, ushering in a glorious new age for the planet and its people.
