January continues to mosey along at a steady pace with Star Wars comics. Next week has a whopping 8 comics and trade paperbacks coming out. I don't know why they don't spread those out more, but hey, I'm not the big Mickey Mouse in charge of Marvel. This week, we see the ongoing comic book event The Battle of Jakku come to a climactic end along with a trade paperback in The High Republic. Let's get into it.
This Week in Star Wars Comics it's The Battle of Jakku - Last Stand #4 and The High Republic Adventures Volume 2.
The Battle of Jakku - Last Stand #4
It all comes down to this. The New Republic versus the Imperial Remnant converge on Jakku for one last battle. Scorned ex-Imperial Warlord Adelhard is out there as a third force as a man ready to watch the world burn. This climatic battle will determine the future of the galaxy!
This final issue comes on the heels of Star Wars #1 (2025) being announced this week. The same writer for this comic event, Alex Segura, will be taking over the mainline comic. So if you've been a fan of this series, buckle up for more.
The Battle of Jakku - Last Stand #4 is written by Segura with Jethro Morales as the illustrator and E.M. Gist as the cover artist.
The High Republic Adventures Volume 2 (Phase III)
The one trade paperback out this week is The High Republic Adventures Volume 2 (Phase III). This collects issues 6-10 of the all ages comics out of Dark Horse Comics. Don't let the "all ages" tag fool you; this series got heavy at times with very real stakes. Despite getting Lula Talisola back after they all believed her dead, the young heroes have dealt with very real trauma. There's no time to rest as they're at war with the Nihil, who set their sights on the planet Eriadu.
The High Republic Adventures Volume 2 (Phase III) is written by Daniel José Older, and the cover artist is Harvey Tolibao.
That's it for This Week in Star Wars Comics. Buckle up for next time, because it will be the biggest week of the month. See you in the splash pages.
