Buckle in, Star Wars comic fans! This week is the biggest one for the month of October! There is something for everyone as a new miniseries kicks off while another one ends, and a Halloween favorite is re-released!
All this and more, so let's get into another edition of This Week in Star Wars Comics!
Ewoks #1
Caravan of Courage: An Ewok Adventure turns 40 this year! To celebrate, a brand new miniseries kicks off this month with Ewoks #1. Set after Return of the Jedi, the Ewok village debates if they wish to step into the wider galaxy as bounty hunters 4-LOM and Zuckuss arrive looking for a lost cache of Imperial weaponry. There is also Meedro, a new Ewok warrior who has ties to Wicket to be uncovered.
Ewoks #1 is written by Steve Orlando, the artists are Laura Braga, Álvaro López, and the cover artist is Pete Woods.
The High Republic Adventures – Dispatches from the Occlusion Zone #1
Another new miniseries kicking off is The High Republic Adventures – Dispatches from the Occlusion Zone! Bringing together fan-favorite characters from across The High Republic media initiative, Keeve Trennis and Elzar Mann team up to set the stage in bringing down the villainous Nihil once and for all. The series is written by Daniel José Older, illustrated by Paris Alleyne, and the cover artist is Jake Bartok.
The High Republic Adventures – Echoes of Fear #2
Continuing with The High Republic, Jedi Knight Reath Silas and Padawan Amadeo Azzazzo search out any information to help fight the Nihil. They research the mysterious Echo Stones that can amplify the Force through the stories of a Jedi legend. However, what happens if the power is too much? The High Republic Adventures – Echoes of Fear #2 is written by George Mann, illustrated by Vincenzo Federici, and the cover artist is Eduardo Mello.
The High Republic Adventures – Saber for Hire #4
Wrapping up the last of The High Republic stories this week, Saber for Hire #4 brings this miniseries to a close. Ex-Jedi turned monster hunter Ty Yorrick faces her once Jedi master, who has joined the side of the enemy. The reveal rocks Ty to her core as her master is stealing other force-sensitive children to experiment on. Will she bring an end to his plans? The High Republic Adventures – Saber for Hire #4 is written by Cavan Scott, and the illustrator and cover artist is Rachael Stott.
Ahsoka #4
Not to sound like a broken record, but Ahsoka #4 is what these comic book adaptations are every month. It's the fourth episode of Ahsoka in comic book form. These are neat if you want to see your favorite characters in different art styles, but they don't really add anything new to the story. Ahsoka #4 is written by Rodney Barnes, illustrated by Georges Jeanty, and the cover artist is Phil Noto.
Star Wars: Vader's Castle – The Deluxe Library Collection
The one trade hardcover out this week is a personal favorite of mine! Star Wars: Vader's Castle – The Deluxe Library Collection is a collection of the four Vader's Castle miniseries from Dark Horse Comics. These spooky tales are perfect for all ages, some pulling from classic horror stories like Dracula, Frankenstein, and more with a Star Wars twist. The writer is Cavan Scott, and the cover artist is renowned horror and monster comic illustrator Francesco Francavilla.
Whew! This big week is complete! Check back next time for another round of This Week in Star Wars Comics!
